A Monday evening performance of The Last Five Years

Monday evening  May 8 at 7:30 pm $15.00

The Last Five Years will be the May 2 reading for the Portland Civic Theatre Guild’s First Tuesday Readers Theatre. The play will be presented at 10:30 am on Tuesday May 2 at The Sanctuary (home of triangle productions!). In addition, the Guild is offering an evening performance the following Monday, May 8, at 7:30 pm.

The Last Five Years is an emotionally powerful and intimate musical about two New Yorkers in their twenties who fall in and out of love over the course of five years. The show’s unconventional structure consists of Cathy, the young woman, telling her story backwards while Jamie, the young man, tells his story starting from the beginning of their relationship. There is only one moment, at their wedding, when both characters appear together.

Malia Tippets and Michael Morrow Hammack, two of Portland’s most outstanding musical theatre performers, star as Cathy and Jamie. They will be accompanied by the brilliant Brian Michael on the piano along with the amazing Amy Roesler on violin and bass. Adair Chappell directs.
