Mission Statement

The mission of this Guild is to preserve and maintain the heritage of the Portland Civic Theatre by encouraging the vitality of our theatre community through support for education, company development and performance opportunities, and by recognizing outstanding accomplishments.

Who/What:   The Portland Civic Theatre Guild is a volunteer based, non-profit organization that enriches the Portland theatre community by giving annual awards to students, theatre companies and individual artists while bringing audiences the highest quality, professionally staged readings Portland has to offer.

“The Portland Civic Theatre Guild is the thriving extension of a community theater company that once dominated the Portland scene. PCT began in the 1905 and stayed in business until the early 1990s, and when it finally shut its doors, the Guild, which had been established as an independent support group in 1958 and immediately established its play-reading series, just kept going, doing much more than simply keeping the memory alive.”  -Bob Hicks, Oregon Art Watch.

We are the Guild that keeps on giving!

On behalf of The Portland Civic Theatre Guild, I would like to wish you the happiest of holidays and to sincerely thank you for your past and continued support.

Last year the Guild awarded $10,000 at the 2017 Drammy Awards to Portland area Theatres and Artists. $2000 was given to daVinci Arts Middle School Drama department, $3000 was awarded to the Portland Actor’s Conservatory and $5000 given to Samson Syharath to provide this artist the ability to travel and experience traditional arts while bringing visibility to the Asian-Amercian experience. We also awarded over $5000 to local actors and directors for our readings.

Your contributions directly support the awards that fulfill our mission and there are a few ways you can continue to help the Guild this year!
